Telling Time
Learn to read a clock, from o'clock to the minute.
12:00
Each player has their own level and progress.
How this works
The short, thick hand is the hour hand and the long, thin hand with the arrow tip is the minute hand. The minute hand goes all the way around in an hour, and in that time the hour hand moves from one number to the next, so at half past three it is halfway between 3 and 4.
Free play: drag either hand, or tap the clock to move the minute hand there. The hands turn together like a real clock, so taking the minute hand past 12 moves on to the next hour. On a keyboard, Tab to a hand and use the arrow keys: the minute hand moves a minute at a time, or 5 with Shift, and the hour hand an hour at a time. Now sets the clock to the time on this device.
Read: the clock shows a time and you pick the matching digital time, or type it on the number pad. Set: move the hands to the time asked for, then Check. A miss gets a hint; after the last try the answer is shown. Five right first time in a row suggests the next level; moving up is always your choice.
Levels: 1 o'clock, 2 half past, 3 quarter past and quarter to, 4 every five minutes, 5 any minute. With 24-hour time on, Read asks for the 24-hour time and says the part of the day; the clock face looks the same in the morning and the evening, so Set accepts either. The clock, settings and progress are saved on this device only, for each player. Reset and Reset progress both offer Undo. Sound is off until you turn it on.
