Left over
—
Type your monthly take-home pay to see what is left.
How this works
Type your monthly take-home pay, the amount that reaches your account after tax, then what goes out each month in three groups: needs (housing, bills, groceries, transport, insurance, minimum debt payments), wants (eating out, shopping, subscriptions, fun) and savings (an emergency fund, retirement, paying debt down faster). Rename a line, add your own, or leave it empty to skip it.
Left over is your take-home pay minus all three groups, worked in whole cents. Savings count as spent here because that money is set aside, not left over. The share of income spent is rounded down while you are under, and up once you are over, so it reads 100% only when every cent is planned.
The 50/30/20 rule is a common starting point: up to 50% of take-home pay on needs, up to 30% on wants and at least 20% on savings. Details compares each group with its target in dollars. It is a rule of thumb, not advice for your situation; a high-cost city or a big debt can shift the split.
What you type is saved on this device so you can come back to it. Clear all empties it, and Undo brings it back.
